The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil Commemorates 4th Anniversary with Ringo Starr

Good Things Come in Fours for the Las Vegas Show

Las Vegas – The Beatles LOVE, the powerful Cirque du Soleil production that celebrates the musical legacy of The Beatles, will be commemorating four years of captivating audiences on June 30, 2010.

In celebration of the show’s anniversary, four cast members from LOVE traveled to Niagara Falls earlier this week to join Ringo Starr at the launch of his upcoming North American concert tour. While visiting Niagara Falls, cast from LOVE were photographed with Ringo Starr in honor of this special milestone, captured exclusively by legendary music photographer, Rob Shanahan.

An excerpt from Ringo Starr, featured in the critically acclaimed, GRAMMY® winning documentary ALL TOGETHER NOW, explains the catalyst LOVE’s Director Dominic Champagne used in creating LOVE with a premise of “four”:

“When you hear that (Beatles’) music, there’s always four people. Doesn’t matter that only Paul and I are sitting here, there’s still four people. There are only two of us now, but in spirit there’s four of us…” – Ringo Starr

(54 second video clip from ALL TOGETHER NOW featuring interview with Ringo Starr http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfZU9aTdpEY – high resolution file for broadcast available upon request).

Many of LOVE’s most notable characters come in groups of four such as the Nowhere Men, Kids of Liverpool, Skaters, Nurses, Bungee Couples, Comets, Crinyls and Gopis’.

The technical design of LOVE was also created with the foundation of four in mind: trampolines, traps on stage, giant balloons, scrims, elevators in the theater, and automation control boards.

As the basis of four prevailed throughout the creation of LOVE, the Beatles’ music was beautifully brought to life on stage to deliver a complete entertainment experience. When it came time to choose a name for the show, affection, pleasure, attraction, tenderness and desire seemed to be a reoccurring message in Beatles’ music. Coincidentally, these elements were all expressed in just four letters, L-O-V-E.

Additionally, the LOVE album debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 in November 2006. LOVE was also chosen for the past four years as “Best Show” by the Review-Journal’s “Best of Las Vegas” Awards (2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010).

This joint artistic venture marks the first time that The Beatles’ company, Apple Corps Ltd., has agreed to a major theatrical partnership. The project was born out of a personal friendship and mutual admiration between the late George Harrison and Cirque du Soleil founder, Guy Laliberté. The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil opened to rave reviews on June 30, 2006 and has played to over 3.5 million audience members.
